QUEST has the following research studies open in the Metro Detroit Area:

Phase II Parkinson's Study

If you or someone you know has Parkinson’s Disease, you may be interested in hearing more about a clinical research study that we are conducting evaluating a twice-daily oral investigational medicine compared to Sinemet.

Individuals may qualify for this clinical research study if they:

  • Are age 30 or older
  • Have been taking four or more doses of Levadopa (Sinemet IR) or 3 or more doses of    Sinemet CR daily.
  • Experience “Wearing OFF” (medicine stops working in between doses)

Qualified participants will receive:

  • Study-related medicine
  • Study-related laboratory testing
  • Study-related physical and neurological exams

This study requires five visits over a six week period. Compensation of up to $1400 for time and travel is provided to qualifying participants.

Excessive Salivation Study

Sialorrhea is excessive flow of saliva associated with its unintentional loss from the mouth, commonly known as drooling and is often found in people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson's Disease. It’s not necessarily an increase in saliva production, but actually may be caused by slowness in swallowing and is a common symptom for people with Parkinson’s Disease.  Here's some information on the study for this condition:

  • This study evaluates an investigational medicine compared to placebo to treat people experiencing excessive salivation and/or drooling
  • Requires six visits over eight weeks with the medical research staff at the clinic in Bingham Farms
  • You may receive up to $950 compensation for your time and travel

Paradyse Study

This study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an experimental therapy for Parkinson's Disease.

  • Patients must have been taking Levadopa for approximately two years or longer.
  • This study requires nine visits to QUEST over a 14 week period.
  • Patients may be compensated up to $480 for their time and travel.
  • Patients completing this study may also be eligible to receive the experimental therapy for an extended time period at no cost to assess long term benefits
